Testimonial – Janet Rowley (Season 2013-2014)

Hi Tony

I hope you are well.  This is to let you know my views of the impact of Newham Warriors on my son, Aidan, as well as to let you know his own views.  Aidan has looked forward to training sessions and matches this year.  Aidan feels that he has developed his team-work abilities, including his communication and co-operation skills.  Aidan also feels that he has developed leadership skills, as he says that he is increasingly able to organise others in the team.  He feels that his leadership skills and confidence have transferred to school.  Aidan has also appreciated the supportive and pastoral aspects of being part of Newham Warriors, as he found the coaches and other players very supportive when he went through a family bereavement this year.  I know that the interest and concern that was shown meant a lot to him and to me.

I have noticed that Aidan has developed an awareness of the importance of commitment to a team, that is, attending training sessions and matches and not letting a team down.  He has grown in confidence in his playing ability.  Aidan has also benefited from meeting and playing with other boys from different secondary schools.  I have appreciated the nurturing side of Newham Warriors and the fact that the coaches display an interest in the boys’ lives, their well-being and personal development, not just their footballing skills.  The coaches also provide excellent models of respect and understanding.  Aidan has matured a lot this year and being part of Newham Warriors has contributed a lot to that development.
