Child Protection

The Dads and Lads (D&L) child protection policy will be followed by all the associated Teams is in accordance with the model set out by the FA Association & the Charity Commission.

All D&L members have a moral and legal responsibility to recognise that every child & young adult who gets involved & plays any sports with the club, should be able to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment and still be protected from any abuse (regardless reason of gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or ability).

D&L recognise the following principles:

  • That the welfare of the child & young adult is of paramount concern.
  • Its duty to safeguard the welfare of all the children & young adults in their care, by protecting them from any abuse – physical, sexual or emotional harm. Also to protect them from neglect or bullying, regardless of their Gender, Colour, Family Status, Race, Nationality, Ethnic or National Origin, Religion, Sexual Orientation or Disability.
  • Though it is the child protection experts to determine on whether abuse has taken place. All suspicious and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
  • All members have a moral and Legal responsibility, to be vigilant of the signs & symptoms to report any concerns
  • To develop a positive and pro-active position in order to best protect/safeguard the welfare of children & young adults, partaking in sports enabling them to be participate in an enjoyable and safe environment,
  • Promote ethics and high standards throughout its involvement in sports.
  • Belief working in partnership with children & young adults and their parents/carer/guardian.
  • Appropriate confidentiality should be maintained in conjunction with the 1998 Data Protection Act and the Human Rights Act.

Clear practices and procedures in addition to suitable training programmes, will ensure that all volunteers involved with D&L & associated teams know exactly what is expected of them in relation to the protection of those charges within our/their care.

All adults engaged in sporting activities must promote good practice and procedures, while being ever vigilant and aware of their responsibilities towards those within their care.
