Brief – A Bit About Us…..

Welcome to Newham Warriors Football Club, New Football Season!

Newham Warriors is part of Dads and Lads Sports Club, a mentoring, tutoring and sports organisation founded in 2001. Dads and Lads Sports Club is a voluntary mentoring organisation founded in 2001 in the London borough of Newham, which has one of the country’s most culturally diverse populations. In July 2014, we became a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC registration number CH10340) which means that we are open and accessible to all.

The Dads and Lads’ value statement is “Education through Recreation” in order ‘to enhance the lives of children, young adults and their families at community and grassroots level by providing healthy recreational activities and services that address their needs and aspirations.’ This is now the 18th year of the organisation.

Why Newham Warriors?

Newham Warriors was given its name to reflect the strong, determined spirit of its teams. Although most players come from Newham, there are also some from neighbouring areas such as Hackney, Barking, Ilford, Dagenham and Walthamstow.

We try to cater for as many age groups as possible and there are currently two football teams: the under 12/13s, and under 16/17s. Both teams train every Saturday between 1 and 3pm at Wanstead Flats (Capel Road end, near to the changing rooms) and play matches on Sundays in the East London and Essex League (ELE).

Over the years, we have won many league trophies and several Warriors have been scouted by professional and semi-pro teams. Last season was very special as our under 15s won both their league and league cup final. Each summer, Newham Warriors celebrates its end-of-season achievements with an awards presentation during the popular annual Dads and Lads Fun Day.

However, as part of Dads & Lads we’re not just about the beautiful game.
