History

Welcome to Dad and Lads

Dads and Lads (D&L) was created to encourage fathers to become more involved in their sons development, although mums are – and always have been – a driving force in the organisation too.

D&L overall objective is to provide “Education through Recreation” It seeks to: “Enhance the live of the children, young adults & their families at grassroots level by providing healthy recreation activities & services that address their needs & aspirations”.

Charter Standard

We are very proud of the fact in June 2009 that  Newham Warriors FC (The Club is part of Dads & Lads, a Newham-based voluntary organisation) was awarded the FA Charter Standard – the only youth team in Newham to achieve this status within Essex FA.

(The Standard means you can be assured that Newham Warriors Football Club follows best practices in terms of child welfare, codes & conduct, administration & training staff.

D&L is approved as a Community Amateur Sports Club, registration No.CH10340 in July 2014.

HRMC Registered 19th July  2014

Aims – Dad and Lads (D&L)

D&L has Three Key Aims, which create a real family Spirit in the Club.

These three aims are to F.I.N:

  • Foster: Be a positive influence on the development of children & young adults by using the teamwork in sport to help instil self-discipline, mutual respect & pride in their communities.
  • Indicate: Provide support for the service users on how to achieve their goals & tackle social & personal challenges through tailored workshops & team building activities.
  • Nurture: Mentor children & young adults to help them achieve their potential, while emphasising the importance of good citizenship & education. This commitment from D&L volunteers is backed-up by the parental support for the organisation and Vice Versa.

But it is all about having fun & getting fit & healthy too! So We hope that you really enjoy being part of any of the D&L team (links to teams)

(Presented by child psychologist Laverne Antrobus, this programme puts fathers under the microscope for the first time. Using a multi-camera lab set-up, Dads are subjected to a series of psychological experiments to reveal their unique contribution to their child’s development. ‘Engaging and lucid…an intriguing and thought-provoking body of evidence,’ according to the Times. Also ‘Pick of the Day’ in the Guardian, the Independent, Time Out and the Telegraph)
